Pet Friendly Cities

January 12th, 2010

This morning while my mom was taking a shower I logged onto my Gather-Pets account. I came across this great article that I wanted to share with you all right away. The article is about the top ten dog-friendly U.S. cities. Boston is number three if you can believe it!! Click on the link below to find the number one pet-friendly city!! Is it your city?

#3 Boston, MA – When you don’t feel like driving and parking, take your leashed dog onto the subway with you. Then relax and watch the world go by as you hop from place to place in this historic city by the bay. Visit the Freedom Trail, and see where one of America’s most famous protests took place at Boston Harbor.

Mom is Sick

December 7th, 2009

Hey Guys

Mom has been really sick so I have been taking care of her. Not much investigating but she is slowly coming around. We did go to Pottery Barn this morning on Newbury Street. They are VERY pet friendly!! My mom was carrying me and all the employees kept telling my mom how cute I was and it was okay for her to let me down. I think she was holding me because she was so cold and I was keeping her warm not because she was scared they would get mad…hehe..

My mom found a lamp and a blanket she liked but wasn’t feel great so she said she will go back later and get it. I have a bad feeling that is code for “I can’t carry it with you and will go back alone later”… not cool!!

Going to lay next to her while she works on her book…

Styling and Profiling

November 12th, 2009

I am looking good folks! My mom took me shopping and bought me a winter vest and a harness that fits me. I have been wearing my “baby” harness until now and it has not been fun! My mom got me the winter vest at Pawsh Dog Boutique in Boston. I got to play with a bunch of dogs while my mom picked out clothes for me to try on. I was so tired from playing that I didn’t mind when my mom picked me up and kept putting different vests, jackets, sweaters, etc. on me. Here is the one I got… it is made by FouFouDog and you totally should get one. I ended up getting the vest in navy blue and it has grey fleece on the inside.  You can buy it at Pawsh Dog Boutique http://pawshboston.com/ or online at http://foufoudog.com

We got my new harness and lead at Four Preppy Paws on Charles Street. It is made by Preston and I love it! Here is the website if you want to get one http://prestonribbons.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=47

This is the pattern of the harness and lead I got..

Dear Fellow Dog Friends,

The south Boston bark park is awful! The floor is covered with little stones that instantly hurt her cute little feet. The size is smaller then most average dog parka and there is minimal parking.

The South End dog park is still the best in the city.

Dear Tanner,

There’s the South Boston ‘Bark Park’ that opened this summer –http://www.yelp.com/biz/south- and an amzing dog park off washington street in the South End. Tales of Boston is the service my dad uses to feed or walk me if he cant make it — Heather Gay is the head of that and is on facebook – she’s up for some award for it I think. The PAW-stonian with Bette Yip is a great trainer with facility – individual and group classes out here — she’s helped me a lot training me and my dad. The South Boston Dog Spa is a good groomer and South Boston Pet Hospital is good when in a pinch. My dad takes me to the Boston ARL in south end though for regular vet – they are GREAT! Skiptons on MA ave in Dorchester is best place for holistic food. There’s a few others out here in the South End… forgetting names at moment – but the last two I’ll mention are Doggy Days (aka the petshop girls) which is food, toys, grooming and day care…. and The Polkadog Bakery in the South End is a bakery just for dog food – and great line of collars, leashes, etc –

Let me know what you think!

Where are you going?

October 28th, 2009

Bev Tilden

to Matthew, me

show details Oct 22 (6 days ago)

Tan Man and I just did a one block lap…he saw some other dogs and was quite interested.  Lots of kids out playing too.  He gets excited and starts jumping!  I used the new expandable leash so he can get a little running room but  I still say he’d make a good sled dog by the way he pulls!

All is well.  Have a blast!

Love,

Bev

My mom left me! I had a bad feeling on Wednesday night when she began packing a rather large bag for herself. In the morning I was so tired but I woke right up when I saw my crate being taken to the car along with a lot of my stuff. Next thing I knew we were at Matts moms house. I like hanging out there so I was running around, playing, etc. I had no clue that in a few minutes my mom and Matt were leaving for Florida  Meghan’s wedding and I was staying here.

When they left I ran to the door and started barking and whimpering. I guess my mom was really sad and made Matt call to make sure I was okay even though I had just left me. Up top is the email Matt’s mom (Bev) sent to my mom and Matt as they were boarding the plane. I think my mom was having just as hard a time as I was. Monica (Mason’s mom, my other aunt) kept calling my mom to make sure she was okay. When she left Mason for the first time she was really sad so she could relate to how my mom was feeling.

Mom was gone for a lot of days! She left Thursday morning and didn’t pick me up until the following Tuesday night. I am not even sure how many days that is but I know it was more than one!

I ended up having a lot of fun with Bev and her boyfriend Stephen. I went to the Cape and got to run around, hung out with Matt’s grandparents one day, took a lot of walks, and even went to work with Bev one day. The first night I was a little nervous that they wouldn’t let me sleep in the bed and I hate sleeping alone. Luckily they let me sleep at their feet after that I knew I was in good hands.

My mom had an amazing time as well and she said that Meghan was the most beautiful bride. Next time she goes to Florida she promises to take me!

Mom came and picked me up last night. I was so excited I ran and jumped on her as soon as I saw her. I licked her face and kept jumping on her. I was so excited. Then I did the same to Matt and when we got home I did the same to my Roomie. Now I am on the couch and my mom is unpacking. It is a rainy day in Boston, gross!

All in all the trip went well for me and my mom. Thank you Bev and Stephen for taking such great care of me! I had a blast with you guys and can’t wait to see you again soon!!

Amazing Weather for Shaggy Dogs Like Myself!

August 28th, 2009

Yesterday was the best day to be outside. For once there was no humidity and I could run for a long time without getting overheated. My mom took me to the Boston Gardens which was really fun. I love that park. It is beautiful and the grass is always mowed. Plus there are always a lot of people walking through it which makes it more interesting. My mom didn’t pick a great time for us to go. We went at lunch time and I had a very hard time not trying to eat people’s food. My mom started to get frustrated and we walked towards the swan boats and then around the whole park. I met a lot of friendly dogs on the walk and got to chase a few birds.

I was pretty hot and a little tired after but then I saw something that looked like a pool. I couldn’t wait to get in and swim. I ran straight forward and was about to jump in when I heard my mom say no tanner. Then as if I hadn’t heard her she pulled my leash. I hate that!! I turned around and looked at her as if she was crazy. She explained to me that it was a fountain not a pool and I was not allowed in it. How was I supposed to know I mean it looked just like a pool to me! Sorry I was hot .. uggghhh! (I did a baby version of Eragon just for you Auntie..hehe)

My grandfather came over later and took my mom out to lunch while I rested in my palace. I got to go out right when she got home so I was excited and we went out again later with Matt. I was just loving the weather and I think my mom was too.

I believe the weather is the same today and I am excited. Today I plan to go Tealux (most pet friendly restaurant ever) getting a half and half (iced tea with lemonade) for mom and water for me and then go play in the Boston Public Gardens. If you live in Boston and your mom, dog walker, parents, etc. can spare an hour or more then I would highly recommend coming along!

Talk to you later…

Young, Cute and Mean

August 27th, 2009

Last night I came across a 3 month old puppy who looked cute but was rather mean. My mom had a bad feeling when she saw the puppy crossing the street with his parents. His mother was yelling sit at him and pushing his butt down. My mom never yelled at me when I was 3 months old. Thank you mom! Must be why I am so nice…hehe

Anyways, he came over to me and we did the usual sniff, walk around each other, etc. Everything was fine until I decided I was ready to go home. I looked up at my mom and she knew that I was done. We began to walk away when the mean dog ran over and bite my ear. At first I thought he was playing but then he started pulling me by the ear and wouldn’t let go. I could hear his parents yelling at him but he still wasn’t letting go. I started whimpering very loudly and my mom pushed the other dog off and picked me up. I was shaking and very upset. The mean dogs parents yelled at him and kept apologizing to my mom. My mom and I were in shock! We have met dogs that have barked at us but never one like this. My mom said goodbye and told them not to worry that I was fine and we left right away.

I was very shaken up when we got home. My mom told my roommate about the “attack” and she couldn’t believe it either! Then my roommate looked at my ear and made sure it was okay. Luckily I am fine, no thanks to the dog and his parents. Next time I might have to bite back…. yeah right I would never but boy do I want to!!

Up To Date … Finally!

August 25th, 2009

As you might have noticed my design has changed! My computer crashed yesterday and wiped out my blog! So frustrating but I spent all day yesterday getting it up once again. Now back to where I had left off….

Auntie’s party was a blast but the days following it were not! Monday and Tuesday my mom and I helped her pack. Well my mom packed (she is a great packer, she’s had a lot of experience you could say) and my auntie played with me. It was beyond hot in Boston and to be honest the heat made me not want to investigate!

Wednesday was a sad day because my auntie moved! My mom was very lost and sad. I could tell that she wasn’t sure what we should do during the day without her! I understood and was very behaved so mom could at least work on her book.

This past weekend was very exciting! My roommates sister and brother in law came to town. They were a lot of fun! I had met them in South Hadley but they had their two little boys with them so I didn’t get to play with them. Brian (my roommates brother in law) was great! He liked how I could stand up for so long, I am not sure why he did but it made him laugh! They stayed at my house on Friday and Saturday morning we all walked to Starbucks together. It was a heat wave and I couldn’t make it all the way so my mom had to carry me for some. Sue (roomies sister) offered her baby bjorn to my mom as a joke. It would have been funny but the time we got home we had forgotten all about it. Sue, please bring it next time and remind myself or my mom!!

They all went shopping Saturday while opted out and stayed in my cool palace. Mom took me out when she got home and we went to the park. Saturday night they left me AGAIN and went to Stephanies. Not fair! I was pretty mad and Sunday morning my mom and roommate got up earlier than usual and started getting ready, packing bags, etc. I was so scared that I was being left again that I hide under my moms pillows on her bed. I mean I understand being left on Saturday since company was in town but two day?? So not okay with that!

Luckily I was very wrong and Sunday ended up being the best day! My roommate drove and I sat on my moms lap. She had shorts on and I scratched her up pretty bad trying to get my head out of the window, ooppss, sorry mom!

After being in the car way too long we pulled up to Matts moms Cape house! I love it here because I can run around the backyard with no leash or harness! FREEDOM!! I met Matts whole family and they made great food which I loved! Matts family went to the big beach but I am not allowed there so me, my roomie, matt and my mom all walked to the little beach. This was the best part of the day! I got to go swimming in the ocean, I met a yellow lab named Spencer who was kind of dull but I still ran around him! I also made friends with a little girl named Madeline. I played with her pail and stole her inner tube…haha

I was forced to take a shower when we returned. I was not happy but I do smell amazing now! We hung out with Matts family and ate dinner outside. I apologize Marcy & Bev for how tired I was by the end. They both wanted to play with me with usually I am so excited for but I was just so tired… all I could do was lay on my moms lap. Sorry! Next time you two will have to come to the “dog” beach us and then I can show you how much energy I usually have! I put some beach pictures for you all to see at the bottom!

Yesterday I rested all day! I was exhausted. We did go to CVS though and this time my mom didn’t even hide me. When we got to the register they were all very pet friendly! Way to go CVS!! Thank you for not abiding by the sign “No Pets Allowed” on your door!

Well my mom just got out of the shower so I have a feeling we are about to go investigate! I will keep you all posted!!

xoxo

PS- We all miss you Auntie!!

The Boston Commons

July 26th, 2009

Dear Diary,

I would first like to apologize for not writing the last few days. My mom has been hogging the computer working on some writing thing. Tonight my aunt called and told her enough was enough and to let me write in my diary.

I have decided it is time to begin rating parks! There are so many different parks in Boston, MA. Now you might be thinking to yourself that all parks are the same but before you stop reading let me say that all parks not the same when you are a dog!

Some parks are great for us and our owners and some are pretty miserable. Yesterday I went with my mom and roommate on a very long walk. We had to go to my roommates Law Firm downtown and then pick up her zip car. It was so hot outside that we all had to stop at Starbucks to get cold drinks. Don’t worry key holding girl with the braid I DID NOT GO IN… bark bark!

Anyways, to get to her office we had to walk through the Boston Commons. Half way through the Commons was when I realized that not all parks are the same. Tonight I will review my first park, The Boston Commons.

This park is very large and has many dogs. There is also a very tempting large area filled with water which had kids walking around in it. I was told that this area is not pet friendly when I tried to run to it. That was kind of a bummer considering I was dying of heat stroke. My mom and I liked how the park was pretty clean but we both did not like how very busy it was. There were food carts, skateboarders, bikers, dogs off and on leashes, people laying in the grass which did not look fun to me!

Now at this point Boston Commons had about a four paw rating but then at the end/beginning of the park (depending which way you enter) we came to a horrible area. The area was called Park Street train station. Lets just say that it was not pet friendly and I find it hard to believe people even like it. It was so dirty, tons of birds, glass and other things that hurt my paws on the ground. I am sad to say that once we entered this area of the park my rating for them went down to three paws.

Needless to say we finally made it to my roommates office. I got to go in an elevator for the first time which was pretty cool. I tried to help her with some work ( I will post the picture of myself at her desk soon) but I was just too hot to concentrate.

We then found the secret place her zip car was located it. I say secret place because it was close to impossible to find! By the time my mom and I got home we were exhausted!

Today has been a great lazy day but it is time to investigate. I just put my Pet Friendly Investigator badge on and I am now heading to White Mountain Creamery near Boston College. Let’s hope for their sake that they are nice to me…. they do want five paws don’t they??

xoxo
